We've just had the 3rd biggest snowstorm in Chicago's history. Matt's work closed at noon yesterday and was closed today. The city is pretty much shut down - airports, schools, most all businesses, and some major roads are all closed. It takes a LOT of snow to do this…this is Chicago after all.
We woke up this morning to several feet of snow, and it was still coming down hard. Matt shoveled enough for the dogs to get out, and then he tried making it all the way to our garage to get firewood.
His shovel broke half-way there!
Will and I stayed warm inside (notice the snow drifts on the windows)! And I made scones from a gluten-free baking cookbook that I'd been wanting to try. They were delicious! You would never be able to tell they were gluten-free.
It stopped snowing about mid-afternoon and our neighbors started coming out to clear the alleys so we can get our cars out! Cars on the street weren't better off...
Matt went out there to help and took this picture of our trashcans by the garage. He borrowed a shovel from a neighbor so he could shovel out a path in front of our house for the mailman!
All in all it was actually a pretty fun day and nice to have Matt home! I wouldn't want a blizzard every day though!

That is crazy!
Hey Miller!
Those pictures are incredible! I spent some time catching up on your blog, and seeing what Sir Will is up to. :) He is a full blown toddler now, and still adorable as ever! Matt's going to be working in the Chicago area for the next few months so we will be out there to visit at some point. We'll make sure you're in town when we come.
wow! i hope you are bundling up and staying cozy!! Miller, i think you are keeping all your recipes online? will you email some gluten-free ones to me? thanks! jessica
Forgot to ask...how's Matt's back today after all that shoveling??
